The Remove Column transform lets you take out any unwanted columns.
Looking to remove rows? Check out our filter transform article here.

Sometimes you get back a report that has 100 columns and you only want 2.

There are two ways to remove the extra columns: use the Remove Column transform or a SQL transform.

Remove Column Transform

To remove columns using the remove column transform, click the blue Add Transform button.

Select the Remove Column transform.

In the window that pulls up, select the columns you want to keep. You'll uncheck the ones that you don't want.

Click the blue Done button. And that's it! Your chart will update.

SQL Remove Columns

In Edit Metric, first click the Add Transforms button, then select SQL.

In the window that pulls up, go ahead and enter a SQL SELECT statement. You want to tell Grow which columns to keep.

For example, if you wanted to keep the key and the description columns you could enter something like this:

SELECT key, "fields.description"
FROM report

You have to tell SQL where you want the data to come from. You can reference the data from the report by using 'report' as the table name.

If you need more info about SQL select statements a good tutorial can be found here.

Be sure to click Done when you are finished. And that's it!
