Q: Is Filter and Drill enabled for all of my metrics automatically?
A: By default, only columns being used in the chart data are available as filters. Users can select additional columns that are available as filters in Edit Metric
Q: I have metrics referencing multiple reports for chart data. Will those work with filtering?
A: Filter and drill isn't available with multiple reports. You'll first need to join the data or use a master report, after which filtering will be available on that master report.
Q: How does a metric with pivoted data work with Filtering?
A: Metrics using pivot are filterable only on the post-pivoted columns. This also applies to calculated columns
Q: Can other people see the filters that I apply in Expanded View?
A: Filters applied on a metric in Expanded View are not visible to anyone else and are removed when Expanded View is closed.
Q: Can a user apply filters on data that is filtered out in Edit Metric?
A: Filters applied in Expanded View will filter the data after a calculated column or pivot table. If you don't have either of these, you can filter into your original data.
Q: I have SQL transforms on my metric. Is my filterable data pre- or post-SQL transforms?
A: The raw data that is available for filtering is pre-SQL transforms, unless you have a pivot table or calculated column. If you do, you will be able to see the data as it is after those two transforms.
Q: Will my Key Value update as filters are applied?
A: The Key Value will update when filters are applied if (a) the Key Value is referencing a cell on the same report that is being used for chart data or (b) the Key Value is referencing a cell in Spreadsheet Functions, and that cell is referencing only data from the same report being used for chart data.
