Creating Bullet Charts

A Bullet Chart is a great way to show progress towards a goal. Like the Gauge Chart, it only tracks a single value, but you can specify up to three ranges to measure against.

Build a Bullet Chart

When you have your data ready, usually by grouping or summing to get the single value that you want to track, go to the Chart tab and change the chart type to Bullet.

Select that value as the Current Value at the top left. You can give it a name (optional) or change the color of the bar.

You can also add a Target value which will display a dark line on the chart. It can be a static number or maybe an average that you calculated in the same or another report.

If you want to show different ranges behind the bar, you can add and label the performance ranges.

Range Performance Values

The Bullet Chart includes an additional section under Performance Ranges. This lets you add shaded areas that show your benchmarks for low, medium, and high performance.

After selecting your data for your bullet chart, expand the section labeled Ranges under Performance Ranges.

This section gives you three options: Low Performance, Medium Performance, and High Performance.

You will only need to enter a value, without the units that go along with it.

For each category (low, medium, high), you can add your own custom labels.
