If you want to give access to a view-only dashboard for friends, investors, or others without needing to create a new user account for them, Grow offers a "Share URL" that lets them see the dashboard with a unique link.
When viewing a dashboard through a share URL, it follows the same protocol of updating the metrics at the set refresh rate only while the dashboard is actively displayed.
Generating a Share URL
From your dashboard, click on the Dashboard action menu (the three dots) at the top right, and select "Dashboard Settings." You can alternately go to Settings > Dashboards > and find your dashboard in the list.
Scroll down until you see the "Sharing" section.
Click on the button labeled "Generate Share URL."
This will create a URL that you can use to share your dashboard with others.
Once someone accesses the share URL, the URL will change. The URL, when first generated, will look similar to grow.com/share1234, but once it has been loaded, it changes to grow.com/dashboard/1234 (in effect). So make sure that you share the URL as it shows on your settings page, not the URL that you can copy after the page loads.
If you delete your current share URL, it will deactivate that URL. Anyone who tries to access it will first be asked to login to Grow instead of being directed to your dashboard.
Under the Share URL, there is an option that lets you toggle between setting the URL to Dark Mode. This will turn on dark mode for anyone who accesses the URL. You can change this even after sharing the URL. The user will also be able to switch between light and dark views.
Limiting access to the URL
If you want to restrict the people who can access the URL, you have a couple of options.
First, as described above, you can delete your current URL and generate a new one.The old URL will then direct anyone who tries to access it to the Grow login page instead of your dashboard.
Second, you can whitelist IP addresses in Grow, which will limit who can access the dashboard from that URL to specific IP addresses.
To whitelist IP addresses, check the box in the Sharing section labeled "Allow only whitelisted IP(s) to use Share URL."
This will bring up a field where you can enter IP address(es) to whitelist. The IP addresses need to be separated by commas.
After you're done, click Save on the right-hand side.
Sharing URLs for Branded Accounts
If you have a Branded Account, you can create a Share URL with your branded URL instead of app.gogrow.com. First, log in to your Branded Account. Then follow the same steps as outlined above and notice that your Share URL matches your branded URL.
