Creating Business Activity Queries (BAQs) for Grow

Create custom business activity queries (BAQs) in Grow that you then integrate with Grow. After you integrate the BAQ, Grow pulls data from the Kinetic BAQ that then displays within Grow datasets and metrics.

During this help article, we explore:

Creating the BAQ

  1. Log into Kinetic.

  2. Launch Business Activity Query. Go to Executive Analysis > Business Activity Management > Setup > Business Activity Query.

  3. The Landing Page displays. Go to the upper right corner and press New .

  4. The Query Identification card displays. Enter a Query ID that uses the "Grow_" prefix, such as "Grow_JobHead."

  5. Enter a Description that helps identify the BAQ, such as "Data from the Kinetic JobHead table."

  6. Select the Shared check box.

  7. Select the All Companies check box.

  8. Now design the BAQ by adding tables, table criteria, display fields, and other features.

Review BAQ - Working with Business Activity Designer, Creating New Query, Using the Business Activity Query (BAQ) Designer, and other help articles to learn more about BAQ features. You can search for these articles in the Kinetic Help and Support Panel.

  9. Analyze and Test the query to make sure it displays the data you need.

  10. Press Save.

Enabling the BAQ in Grow

You next activate (enable) the custom BAQ in Grow.

  1. Log into Grow.

  2. Navigate to Connections.

  3. Select your Kinetic connection.

  4. Press Manage Connection.

  5. Because the Query ID on the custom BAQ uses the "Grow_" prefix, your custom BAQ integrates with Grow. A new BAQ option now appears on this list, such as "Data from the Kinetic JobHead table". This value comes from the Description on your custom BAQ.

  6. Activate (enable) the toggle for the custom BAQ.

  7. Press the Sync & Save button.

This custom BAQ now pulls data from your Kinetic database for display in Grow datasets and metrics.
