What are Dataset Playbooks?
At Grow we see what kinds of reports and data that customers use from their data sources. Most of the time the data isn't immediately chartable and require several steps to prepare the data to use for the metrics they want to see.
We've looked at the most common metrics and reports used from all of our datasources, and where we saw work that is repeatable we've created pre-built datasets to help prepare the data for you. These pre-built datasets are called Dataset Playbooks.
NOTE: This feature is only available for accounts on the Basic and Professional plans. If you would like to upgrade your plan, talk to your Grow account manager or visit your account's billing page.
Accessing and Using Dataset Playbooks
When you start to build a custom metric or if you go to Settings > Datasets, you will see all of the custom datasets that you have created as "Your Datasets." The second section, labeled "Dataset Library," is the collection of all of the dataset playbooks that are available to use. You can choose to filter to see all of the playbooks or just to see those that will work with data sources you have connected.
When you hover over a playbook you can choose to see a preview of the data available in that dataset or start building a new metric with it.
If you start building with a playbook you will be prompted to give it a name and choose the authorization associated with the data source that you want to use. Then you will be brought to the edit metric screen to add any additional transforms and create a chart. If you decide not to build a metric at that time, the new dataset will still be saved in your account.
Once you save a dataset playbook from the library it will appear with your other custom datasets. You can edit this one like any other dataset.
