For storage-based accounts, Grow measures additive data. This means we track anything that increases the amount of data stored on Grow's servers.
Additive Data
Additive data includes actions such as:
- Uploading a file: Adding new files to the system.
- Performing a join or union: Combining data from different sources.
- Creating a new connection: Linking to new data sources.
Transforms mainly manipulate existing data and don't add to the total volume.
System Overhead
Storage that is taken into consideration when measuring storage usage:
- Warehouses
- Data Sources
- Master SQL
- Joins/Unions
Exclusions
Excluded from the calculation are any system activities that duplicate or temporarily add data due to Grow's architecture. These activities don't count towards the storage limit.
Storage Used Displays in Grow
The Storage Used and Table Size columns on the Connections, Warehouse, and Datasets pages list the amount of data being used.
Displayed within the actual connections, warehouses, and datasets, the Table Size is calculated on the parent table and not the child table. (The table size is greyed out if it’s the child table and normal text color if it’s the parent table).
