The Column Cleanup Transform allows you to select which columns from your data source you want to include in your report. It also lets you reorder columns, which was previously available in the Column Select Transform.
How to use the Column Cleanup Transform
Adding and Removing Columns
Step 1: From the Data tab in the metric builder, select the Add Transform button, then select the Column Cleanup Transform.
By default, all columns in your data table are listed in the Available Columns section. Displayed Columns are columns that have been selected and will be displayed after running the transform.
Step 2: You can add columns to the Displayed Columns section by selecting 'Add all' or by hovering over individual columns and selecting ‘Add’. The search bar near the top can be used to filter columns in both sections.
Step 3: You can remove columns from the Displayed Columns section by selecting ‘Remove all’ or by hovering over individual columns and selecting ‘Remove’.
Step 1: Once you have added columns to be displayed you can then reorder them by grabbing a column and dragging it to a different spot in the list.
You can also choose to include all future columns, which will add new columns from your data source to the bottom of the list as they are brought into Grow.
Note: if you have an entry in the search bar you will need to clear it before being able to reorder your columns.
What order will my columns appear in when they show up?
- Your columns will be displayed in the order that they show in the Displayed Columns section. If you want to re-order your columns, you can do this by grabbing and dragging them in the Displayed Columns section. Note: When selecting ‘Include all future columns’, new columns will be added to the bottom of your displayed columns. You can then reorder them by editing and running the Column Cleanup transform.
Why can’t I reorder my columns?
- If it’s not letting you reorder your columns, that means you have a value in the search bar. Make sure to clear your search before attempting to reorder columns.
