Table charts might be the least exciting kind of chart. And while there aren’t a lot of formatting options for tables in Grow, there is a way you can add some color and context to the data through emojis.
Note: You will need to use SQL, so you will have to customize this to match the code to how your data is set up.
When you have the data you want to use for your table chart, you can add another column that displays an emoji based on data in the other columns. In this example I have the total sales and count of deals for each sales rep, and I’ve calculated the average order size.
I want to easily see which reps have a higher AOV than $550, so I will use this CASE statement in SQL to give a green checkmark emoji if the “Average Order Size” column is 550 or higher, and a red X if it’s not.
CASE WHEN "Average Order Size" >= 550 THEN '✅' ELSE '❌' END AS "Above Goal"
To add an emoji, you can right-click and select “Emoji & Symbols” from the menu (on a Mac), or simply cut-and-paste it from somewhere else like a social media site. Be sure to surround it with single-quotes.
This will add a new column that you can use in your table chart!
