New Data Source Improvements
New Data Source Improvements
Hello there! As a data company, Grow has always been concerned with enabling our customers to leverage their data to capitalize on key insights in the most efficient way. In alignment with that core value, we have been hard at work on the integrations team developing an entirely new way to surface progress for visibility.
What does this mean?
This new feature's goals are the following:
- Enable customers to see more indicating information regarding the status of data pulls within the application. This includes (in some cases) percentage indicators to show progress towards acquiring the full amount of data, as well as row counts to inform customers
- Allow the possibility for customers to immediately start building with the first batch of data acquired; no more waiting until all of the data are returned. Click Get Data and get right to work. Once you're done building Grow will continue to stream the data into the metric behind the scenes
Are my data connections affected?
Eventually the plan is to transfer all of our connectors to this new feature. However, in the spirit of preserving a great customer experience, we are going to roll out this new feature slowly for the following data sources first:
- PostgreSQL
- MySQL
- MSSQL (SQL Server)
- Amazon Redshift
- Salesforce
- Shopify
Does this impact current metrics?
If you have the above connected sources, you'll notice the extra informative messaging when you click "Get Data", but you'll not likely notice an increase in performance.
Because this is in a late beta stage, it is possible (albeit very unlikely) that these changes will cause breakages with your current metrics/datasets. Rest assured that we've put measures in place to turn off the feature and revert to the legacy methods should you encounter ANY issues at all. If you encounter any issues, please email support@grow.com so we can be aware and work quickly to resolve the issue.
When is this happening?
For the six data sources outlined above, we plan on making this the default experience for pulling data by the end of 2020. However, we will be enabling this new feature for customers who opt in during the months of June and July 2020 (first round of beta testing turned on for specifically opted-in accounts starting June 29th, 2020). Following that period of trial and testing, we will turn it on for all customers by September or October 2020 unless there are specific blockers preventing rollout.
For all remaining connectors, we will be rolling these out slowly and after thorough testing to ensure full functionality by the time our warehouse initiative is launched, towards the end of 2020.
We appreciate your cooperation and your business as we work harder than ever to ensure best data practices and methodologies.
Best,
Drew Hemsley
