This article will give you an overview of how to build and use the line chart.
Use Cases
Line Charts are super useful when you are looking to see trends over time. Some of the most frequent use cases we see are sales over time, website traffic, or Facebook impressions over a certain period of time.
If you add multiple data series, you can compare website traffic by source (organic, search, paid, etc.) over time.
Building a Line Chart
To build a line chart:
- Log in to your Grow account and select Metric in the Add New page.
- Choose your data source, and connect your data.
- In the Data Explorer page, ensure that Chart is selected (at the top center of the screen).
- Select the Chart Type drop down located in the left side panel.
- Search and select Line Chart.
- Select your Data Series (y-axis).
When you use a line chart, you can add multiple lines by selecting additional data series.
You can format all your selected data series, if required. The Line Chart has some specific settings unique to this type, like changing the thickness of the line, changing the line style (Solid, Solid with a shadow, Dotted, or Smoothed), and showing round bullets for each data point. Each of these settings are applied to each data series separately. - Finally, add chart labels and key values to your metric.
